The Passenger Train looks a little like the Virgin ones, with similar red and white colour coordination and shape. It’s simple to build and very reliable. This City set scores high on the playability front, thanks in part to the surprising speed of the train! As a comparison it’s much faster than the Emerald Night. The engine’s outstanding feature is the cab, which has a roof that flips open so you can get the driver in and out easily. Two passenger cars are included, both boasting roof sections that open and seating for up to 10 people. Thanks to the advanced remote, it’s possible to run 8 trains at any one time.
The tracks are also worth a mention, as they’ve been updated and made more flexible. This means tighter curves and an enhanced and more exciting role-playing experience. There are 16 curved track pieces in total, and a further 16 flexible pieces so you can mix things up a bit with straight stretches and circular sections. Three minifigures are included in the set; a train driver, one male commuter and a casually dressed female. Stand them on the platform, which has a train route planner, seating, lamppost and clock.
You will need 9 x AAA batteries to keep the LEGO Passenger Train running. Please note that the locomotive is compatible with LEGO 9V tracks. However, the tracks are not compatible with LEGO 9V trains.
