LEGO City 3182 Airport
Impressive as a standalone cabinet piece and equally as good for role-playing scenarios, this 703-piece set (No. 3182) covers the complete airport experience. Nicely designed and thoughtfully detailed, the LEGO City Airport has all the bells and whistles you’d expect in a more expensive set. Is it worth the money? The answer to that would have to be a big fat YES!

There are quite a number of different elements to LEGO City Airport. Let’s start with the star of the show – the jumbo jet (50cm long x 17cm tall). In white with red underbelly and tail, it comes with side turbines, detailing on the wings, and a set of wheel-away steps. And of course a pilot decked out in smart black uniform with peaked hat. Inside the plane you’ll find a microwave and drinks machine, which are nice little extras missing from previous planes.
Before the passengers fly off to far-flung destinations, they need to park and check in. There’s a parking sign to direct them to car spaces, and outdoor seats. Enter the terminal’s (25cm tall when constructed) revolving doors; check in at the ticket desk, then see who gets through security’s X-ray machine without a beep! There’s a cafe and lounge for early birds waiting for flight calls, whilst the baggage cart takes the 3 little suitcases over for storage.
The Control Tower is the third build in the LEGO Airport set and comes with revolving radar, tilted blue windows, desk with microphone, and red and white checkered detailing on the front.
Finally, we have the minifigures. There’s the aforementioned pilot, along with 4 others. The airport worker is in blue buttoned jacket and tie. The construction guy is in traditional orange safety overalls and hat. The glamorous stewardess comes complete with tousled hair, scarf and lipstick, and her passenger is ready for his hols with a perky smile and palm tree shirt.
Suitable for children aged 5 and up, the LEGO City Airport is available at around £79.99.
